We will take round ways cable car to visit the Golden Summit at 3,000 meters on Emei Mountain which was added to UNESCO’s Natural and Cultural Heritage List in 1996.

And then take round ways cable car to visit Wannian Temple. In the afternoon, we will leave Mt.Emei and back to Chengdu airport to catch a flight to Xian.  And we will be picked up by driver and transferred to Skytel Hetel…

Day 3 Emeishan, Chengdu
Start at 6am, are you crazy? This is my vacation!!!
Wang-Yi told us to get warm shirt, hat and everything’s ready to be cold!  As we will on top of the big mountain….

Wang-Yi also told us to take only necessary stuff with us, the other things we could leave with the driver. We will take another bus to get up the mountain because it’s dangerous way for inexpert driver.

Picture: Map of mountain from the park, you can see that how high of the mountain would be.

6 in the morning was still dark here, I can’t tell you how to get the bus station. But Wang-Yi told us, this is only one bus station that allow take drive up to the mountain.  It’s was little raining..and cold already.

Our driver dropped us over here before we left everything with him…

Wang-Yi got the bus ticket for us, it costs 95Y/person/round-trip (~$15.8, 475 Baht).

Picture: The lady tried very hard to sell us some stick which we thought to use it for walking stick.  But Wang-Yi said “NO” but it’s for defending the wild monkey! It’s 2 for 5Y (~$0.85 or 25 Baht).
We got rain coat from the sale man around that area, it’s about 5Y ($0.85 or 25 Baht). It’s cheap and keep us warm a little bit.

The bus! I’m not sure that they have a/c in the bus but they didn’t turn it on!
Remember out trip in Mae Hong Sorn, Thailand? Feeling the same thing because there are so many curves up the mountain, I felt so dizzy…
We stopped the middle way at the small shop, you can get some drink or some snack but I’m sure that you don’t want the bathroom!
Well, I felt asleep for almost 2 hours until we arrived! And it was my BIG mistake to get in public bathroom, I couldn’t do anything in there, neither that I couldn’t forget anything that I saw!!!

The bus made us just for first arrival, next we needed to use our own leg again (Good work out in China, we were walking up a lot!)
Wang Yi let us know that we have to walk up for another 30 minutes then we will take the cable car up, up, up!
It’s really cold here, they provide Coat for Rent for 20Y each (but you have to put 100Y for deposit).
And as you know that we have to walk up, they have so many guys with funny stretcher! It costs about 160Y/trip (~$27 or 800 baht), not sure about extra charge if you are big?!?!?
Foggy!
I would repeat that it’s so cold, we had to walk slow as it’s kind of slippery as well.
But finally, we arrived the cable car station!!!

It’s good to have Wang-Yi with us, it didn’t look easy for the tourist who non-Chinese speaker to get the ticket or get in the line for cable car at all!

Wang-Yi went up to get cable car ticket, 120Y (~$20 or 600 Baht) and get in the LONG line for cable car.

Just so funny that we were in long line for long time for just to be in waiting room, the big room for people more than 100 people!!!
Wang-Yi told us to be ready to jump in cable car whenever it comes!
(I was not sure for the reason that we was in the queue…?!?!?!)

Here you come! I can’t remember how fast I jumped in the cable car but it was so quick!!!

Left: we were in the long line for waiting room – Right: In the cable car!

It is the highest golden Buddha statue in the world. The statue of Buddha with 10 faces riding 4 white elephants with 6 trunks, cast in copper, and plated in gold, the Golden Buddha is 48 meters in hight, and has a Buddhist temple located inside.

The sunrise at Mt. Emei is nothing short of amazing.

It’s a big cable car, a capability about 100+1 passengers.
The more higher is the more foggy! I can’t see anything (but well, it’s good to not see for how height you were in that cable car!!)
It was a short ride, just 15 mins in that cable car but I will call the 2nd arrival. Because we have to walk for another 20 mins up to the temple (so complicated!)

Don’t forget, Mt. Emei is the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China (3,099 metres or 10,167 ft.)

First, we had no doubt for how long we had to walk and it’s barely to see anything until the last step! We saw the big statue in the clouds sea… And this is GOLDEN SUMMIT!

Before the sun rises, the sky and ground are the same dark shade of purple. When the sun is almost completely visible the whole of Mt. Emei is lit in golden color, giving the Golden Summit its name. But we didn’t get the chance of sunrise at all.

Wang-Yi told us that he comes to work here once a month for 3 years but he got only one picture with the sunrise here…

Left: The Tibet visitors – Right: the key of love from lover couple that they will lock the key and throw the unlock key away. For the meaning of last long love…

The sign to be aware of the wild thieve monkeys.  Wang-Yi told us the they can be very aggressive and dangerous more than cute!
And that’s why we had the stick for their defense…just too bad we didn’t see any of them in this trip!

This is the first mountain that we stopped by!

Next stop will be another mountain, we will visit Wannian Temple, it’s about 45 mins away with curves!

The Wannian Temple is one of the eight largest temples on the Mountain. The Brick Hall of the Wannian Temple is a wonder of ancient buildings.  During the past four hundred years, it has gone through several earthquakes of magnitude 5 to 7.9 but it is still standing to this day.

Wannian Temple has cableway to mountain climbing and sightseeing areas like the Golden Summit.
Unfortunately, they were emergency drill when we arrived this temple. They closed the cable car service then we waited for almost 30 mins but the drill was going on and had no clue when it would be over!

So forget about the cable car, who care for that WE HAVE OUR OWN LEGS!!!

It’s nice walk way but it’s too long way to walk!

Again, we don’t know for how far??? It was the first time that Wang-Yi walked up as well. The stretcher tried to offer the carrier, but I don’t think I like the way I look on that!

Here I am…See the temple gate, just like I saw the heaven gate…I made it by my legs!!!

The Wannian Temple is a wonder of ancient buildings…

It took us for an hour to be here…but it’s about 20 mins that we walked about the temple! At least, it’s better than I gave up in the middle way here.

Even on the way back, they still closed the cable car service but it’s MUCH easier to walk down!!!

But believe it or not, we didn’t eat anything since we got up. Wang-Yi stopped for lunch at the middle way where they have restaurant and hotel (kind of…)

Check out this hotel room, it’s kind of see-through bathroom with underground toilet!

Alright…it’s time to get into the bus and go down to the ground where our driver waiting us (with all our stuff!).

After this, we will go to Chengdu airport to catch a flight to Xi’an, the other city which about 1.15 hours away fly.

At this time, it’s time to say good by our tour-guide, Wang-Yi.  He is a nice tour guide who walking a lot with us! (Tips in China depends on tourist..we tip the tour guide 200Y ($33 or 1000 Baht) and the driver 100Y ($16 or 500 baht for 2 days trip).

Guess what? We flew with LUCKY AIR…feeling so lucky when boarding!

But I was (STILL) lucky to land at Xi’an airport and got check in the Skytel Hotel about midnight by the other driver in Xi’an (Provided by the same tour company).

It was the big long day from 5am – 12am to visit 2 top temples and fly to the other city!
Let I took some rest…the next day we will visit TERRA COTTA WORRIORS, the great army troops of China, stay tuned!
