Outdoor Chairs Makeover

These old chairs deserve a makeover, yes I will do it!

Start on 8 Feb 2017 – Now(Please Stay Tuned…)

Day 1: Cleaning

First, I started cleaning with Teak Cleaner, you can get this cleaner at Home Depot or Hardware shop at $14-$20.

After cleaning, they look wayyyyyyyy much better!

Day 2-3: Painting

I used Chalk Paint color.  This kind of color paint, you don’t have to clean or rub your furniture, and it can apply to all kind of woods and giving a naturally wood look.

I’m painting them in light blue, called Theater Wrap by Valspar (Chalky Finish Paint).

Comparing between paint or no paint, I think I like it painted better!

Day 4: Drawing the flowers

It looks great after new painting already, but I started drawing some flowers.

Day 5: Painting

Color them with Acrylic colors.

The 2 chairs after painting with some flowers on.

They look good! Don’t you think so?

And a long chair, more flowers.

Day 6: Line Drawing

Next, I’m drawing lines to make all flowers more visible.

Before and after line drawing

Yes, it looks more visible than no line…

Day 7-8:  The Side table

For the side table, I used the darker blue “Sunday Bustle” to paint, just to make it a little more contrast with the chairs but the same flower painting.

Day 9: Coating…

I used “Flat” coating spray after all painted, it doesn’t make my chairs look too shiny or grossly but it’s just great protect colors.  I think I like it….
I did 2 coats for each chair & table.

Oh wow, it’s about getting done!!!
Next, I have to find the matching cushions for this chair set!!!

After I finished the chair set, this is what Tim said….

This swing??? Oh Noooooooo!!!!

Please stay tuned!!!

  1. Did you try B2S in a big shopping mall, Like Central? Or Homemart/Home pro, they do have the painting section?
Honestly, I never looked for chalk paint in Thailand, so I’m not sure you can find it – but try!

  2. I am living in Thailand. Do you know where you can buy chalk paint here?
