The day after we visited Hutong, day 6 in our Beijing adventure, now we’re going to visit the Summer Palace!

The palace is recognized as ‘The Museum of Royal Gardens’, located northwest of Beijing’s center, is easily accessible from most parts of the city.

The Summer Palace covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers include the Kunming Lake and the hill is about 60 meters (200 feet) high…

The central Kunming Lake covering 2.2 square kilometers was entirely man made (!!!).

The excavated soil was used to build Longevity Hill. So many buildings are on the hill – it’s fun to walk up!
The construction started in 1750 as a luxurious royal garden for royal families to rest and entertain.

In December 1998, UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List. It declared the Summer Palace “a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design.

This Long Corridor is 700 meters long, and considered the longest corridor in the world!

The Summer Palace served as a summer resort especially for Empress Dowager Tzu-shi, with beautiful gardens including the Seventeen-Arch Bridge and the wonderful Kunming lake…

We visited the Summer palace during April, it’s nice tree and flowers in this time but it’s as hot as Thailand!!!

We considered the Summer Palace as the top 3 tourist attractions in Beijing…It’s natural beauty and the grandeur of royal gardens was awesome…

Don’t miss it!
