The afternoon trip on the first day in Beijing, after we visited Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City in the morning, we are now going to visit the Temple of Heaven and then an Acrobat show in the evening…

The Temple of heaven is a complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing (not far from the Forbidden City). The Temple was constructed from 1406-1420 during reign of the Youngle Emperor.

Nowadays, the temple serves as a public garden for local people. I saw a long line of chess players as well as some of the locals that come here for exercises.

When I walked in the garden, the Chinese guy asked me to play the fabric ring, he wanted me to use my head get the ring from him!
I didn’t find the ring toss particularly exciting, but it’s nice that he asked me to join…

And this looked like tennis, but the ball is very heavy – you need to be real soft when you hit and throw…
It’s just so weird that they liked to play with us, no charge – FREE!

Then we walked into the main area where the Hall of Player for Good Harvest is…
But the day we were there, they were making a movie or something, so it was very crowded by the actors…

The Hall of Player for Good is a circular building, 36 meters in diameter and 38 meters tall. The building is completely wooden, with no nails…very interesting!

Then the guide took us walking around the area which covers 2.73 km²…everywhere is a long walk in China, I guess…

This is our guide “Kelvin”, he is a really nice guy who took great care of us.
Sometimes, he tried to help us on to bargain for the right price, but the sellers yelled to him (we didn’t mean to make somebody yell to him, but it was nice of him to us)

The last stop, The Circular Mound Altar….It’s an empty circular platform on three levels of marble stones.
Kelvin told us to stand on the circular in the middle of platform, they believe to be good luck…

It’s nice visit the Temple of Heaven, it’s was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998 and was described as “a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world’s great civilizations…”

After we visited the temple of Heaven, we went to see the Acrobat show at the Red Theater…

This show is included in our tour package, so we don’t have to pay extra for the show.
Overall this was a good show, you will get to see the traditional Chinese acrobat acts. The best show is at the end when they ride motorcycles in a small ball, it’s thrilling and cool!
I would recommend this show for the family trip – it’s good for your kids!

The first full day trip ended very good…as we set up the trip by ourselves, so every other day here we will get the day off from our tour guide and explore the city by ourselves… by Beijing Subway to Bejing Zoo, Wang Fu Jing Shopping Street and night market, we also tried the Chinese massage!
