Mundong Waterfall, Geoje Island (South Korea)

Mundong Pokpo Waterfall (Kr:문동 폭포) is an easy hike and a beautiful waterfall, nice day out with kids, family, and friends!

The best time to visit the waterfall would be in the rainy season in South Korea, around June – September. Other months, you can also visit the waterfall but the falls will be a little quieter but it’s still great for hiking (more like walking).

Mundong Waterfall is about 4-5 km from Geoje city (Gohyeon), or it’s about 10-15 mins drive from Okpo where we live.

Driving to the waterfall from Geoje City Hall or from Okpo, you will see the Blue City building in the corner, prepare to turn left after you pass the traffic light.

The entranceway to the Waterfall.

It’s a small road, don’t drive too fast, be aware of other cars and people on the road.

Parking Lot…

It’s no admission but there are many signs saying to help to keep all nature areas clean.

The way to the waterfall, the sign is telling about special activities around this area.

Walking up to the main waterfall, you can walk along a small road that follows along the river.

Nice walking to visit in June, not too hot.

Actually, we didn’t plan to stop for this waterfall, we drove past on our way out of town and just stopped to check it out on the way home.

So we weren’t dressed to play water…

Small waterfalls along the river path on the way up are great for splashing.

It’s less than a half of mile walk to the main waterfall.

Water at waterfall depends on how much rain, this is our first visit the waterfall in the middle of June.

Not much water during our visit but you still can do more exercise here! It’s quite normal for hiking in Korea, when you get to the top, you will see the exercise machine!

Mundong Waterfall on the 3rd week of June.

Up above the main waterfall, you can hike up to the top.  But we didn’t have the right shoes to walk that high today.

One thing that keeps us coming back to Mundong Waterfall is BUTTER CUP, the coffee shop. But we didn’t try their coffee yet. This is our personal feeling, not a tie-in commercial.

Tim likes it here because they have great smoothies (it’s perfect for Summer in Geoje) and Blueberry crumbles (불루베리 크럼블). And I’m here for Passion fruit Lemon Drink and Sweet potato bread (고구마빵)!

It’s my first time to have Sweet Potato Bread, Yum!

Stay tuned, if we come back here during the rainy season or other months we’ll let you know how it looks – I will keep posting 🙂

ECOSYSTEM

Positive growth.

Nature, in the common sense, refers to essences unchanged by man; space, the air, the river, the leaf. Art is applied to the mixture of his will with the same things, as in a house, a canal, a statue, a picture.

But his operations taken together are so insignificant, a little chipping, baking, patching, and washing, that in an impression so grand as that of the world on the human mind, they do not vary the result.

The sun setting through a dense forest.
Wind turbines standing on a grassy plain, against a blue sky.
The sun shining over a ridge leading down into the shore. In the distance, a car drives down a road.

Undoubtedly we have no questions to ask which are unanswerable. We must trust the perfection of the creation so far, as to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened in our minds, the order of things can satisfy. Every man’s condition is a solution in hieroglyphic to those inquiries he would put.
