I’m Jam, the blogger and illustrator of this website…
I was born in a small city in Thailand, called “Angthong”. Angthong is a little known city about a 2-hr drive from Bangkok.
I moved to Bangkok for high school and eventually graduated from my university, I got a job in Bangkok as well.
I started writing my blog as my hobby (I even tried to make some money by posting some ads). My first website was called PLAZAJAM.com but somehow when I tried to tell everyone “my website name is Plazajam.com” most people would say back to me “What? what’s the name of it? all I heard something, something jam.com???”…
Well, to make it easy… then… I changed my website to SOMETHINGJAM.Com, in 2012 LOL.
The other reason that I like this name is that I can write anything I want. Right now more than 90% of my blogs are about traveling. I started this site at about the same time that I started dating my husband “Tim”, during his 8-year job (2008-2016) in Thailand, we traveled around the country together, sometimes with groups of friends (Thais and Expat).
Not only Thailand, but we also explored the neighboring countries, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Nepal, and the Maldives!
We both moved back to the USA in 2016, we didn’t do much traveling after the US move, his job kept him in Africa for 30days at a time and then home for 30days off (dang!).
But we visited New York, Connecticut, and Seattle during our 2 years in the USA (2016-2018)!
Then we moved to South Korea (2018-2021) as expats, Tim got a job working in Ulsan for 18months then another 18months at a shipyard on Geoje Island. We get to explore more about South Korea where I never thought to visit before!
South Korea is only a 5-hr flight to Bangkok, Thailand. This gives us a chance to visit our house in Thailand more often (2-3 times a year). We also got to do trips to Japan as it’s only 2-3 hr flight away, and we loved it.
During the pandemic (2020-2021), Tim made a decision to retire from his job – we moved back to the US in March 2021.
I was sad, I kinda liked to be an expat’s housewife. But it was a great experience in my life to live in a country like Korea and learn the language and experience the culture. Tim and I (and a dog) had a nice balance between work and travel, so we got to see many places during our assignment in South Korea, at least I can speak some of the basic Korean words!

I try to write my experiences just the way I saw and I felt, and I always do research before/after the trips. We like to travel and I like the relaxed way we travel, not for commercial – we don’t have any sponsors for our trips.
No one tells me what to write what is good or bad, I wrote from my own experiences!
Why don’t we use our own pictures?
I find it interesting to read other blogs, but many people made funny comments (like a bully, mean) like you’re fat, you’re white, you’re brown, etc. All those comments are not about what it is!!!???
So I decided to make us in the cartoon look (and I tried to cover all the people in my pictures with the cartoon as well) so people that read my blogs will focus more on the foreground/background pictures and get straight to my notes, and we never look too old in our website, and Tim likes that I add hair… ha!

And……..It’s over 10years since I started blogging, and we are getting old (but not too old for traveling), I hope you will find this fun and useful for your travels.
