Piñones Beach, Puerto Rico

We went to this beach on Sunday (arrival & our 1st day in Puerto Rico), which is busier with both tourists and locals.

It’s not too far from Condado Beach, but we got stuck in traffic for a bit longer!

Our plan was to try the Chicken Pinchos (Chicken skewers) at Puerta Del Mar. They’re big chicken BBQ sticks for $4 (they said the chicken is cheap here!).  If you wait in line to buy them, they’ll pack them to go for you (but we chose to sit at a table). You can also walk in and sit inside for full service.

Piñones beach is famous for its kiosk local fried food shops, which I BELIEVE ARE ALL ALONG THE STREET.  However, you can also find restaurants along the beach.
Our Uber driver suggested Platanal Restaurant as we passed by it.
We could have walked along the beach longer, but we didn’t make it that far!  We just walked around the beach and I had my very first Piña Colada ever!

Since it was my first, she asked me “with rum?” and I said “yes!”
Here’s what I figured out from our trip: The original Piña Colada doesn’t have any rum in it. That’s why when you order one, people often ask if you want to add rum.

The beach looks family-friendly, but we didn’t plan to go swimming here.

We stayed until it started raining, then we called an Uber. But what I learned from the Uber app was that it showed a different route back to our hotel (like a detour), and it cost us three times what we paid to get there. So we had no choice but to call the Uber.
Afterward, the app changed the route (to a shorter one like the way we came) but we still ended up paying a lot for the Uber.

Technically, for a round trip Uber from Condado to Piñones , we paid $85 for 2 hrs visit(we almost rented a car for a day or another good tour package!!!)
It’s a very short ride (which I think should not have cost more than $40 for the round trip!)

So, the Piñones beach was interesting, but I don’t think it was worth what we paid for the Uber!

They said the beach will be quieter with fewer vendors on weekdays (especially on Monday).
