Eden Ski Resort Nearby Busan, My first time skiing!

Snowboard and snow skiing are a MUST DO in South Korea during the winter, especially from Mid of December to  February.

But there is no snow all over South Korea, it’s only the northern part that you can find options for Ski Resorts.

Living in Busan it gets very cold during winter but NO SNOW.

The temperature here in Busan was about -7 to 10 Celsius from December to February. I remembered the coldest was during the last 2 weeks of December to the first 2 weeks of January!

Even though there is no snow! We got some frost warnings.

I thought I had to go to Seoul to try skiing in South Korea, but I found a nearby Ski Resort Tour package at Trazy.com, where we can drive. Eden Valley Ski Resort is less than an hour away! So we just drove there …Why not?!?!

Address: Eden Valley Ski Resort 1206 Eosil-ro, Wondong-myeon, Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do

Is it really snowing here? NO! They are making snow for us!!!

You can come to Eden Valley in another seasons, they will have other activities (like horseback riding, racing cart, swimming pool, etc).  But from December to February they are available for Ski & Snowboard!

I’m glad that I’m here with Tim for my first time skiing!!! But it was awkward when he can ski but I can’t!!!

I had no idea that Tim can ski until we arrived at the Ski Resort. Tim knew that I needed a lesson. And there is a ski school which provided group and private ski class.

First, we had to look for “The Guide Ticket Office” if you can’t speak Korean. This room is right next to the ticket counters where you can find English representatives.
Today, Seng Sang Hyeon (Korean Name, his Kakao id: Zero3792) helped us with our tickets. He recommended the 5-hr package for us which included clothes, ski boots, and lift tickets at 98,000won each (he said he give us a 10,000 won discount!).

But we needed to rent 10,000won google and bought 20,000won gloves!

So all we paid is about 129,000won each (~$110 each)!

They provide good facilities, separated changing rooms, restroom, lockers, etc, but just not a lot of English Friendly signs – so we were glad to have English representative helping us on getting clothes, shoes, everything we needed!

But we got there pretty late (11.30am), we missed the ski class and it will available again about 1pm.

Our package is included unlimited ski lift for 5 hrs – so it’s good for new skier!

So Tim was a volunteer to teach me how to Ski for my first time!
Tim took me to the basic slope when I don’t have any basic ski riding at all.  Well, I wasn’t looking good for the first time skiing with Tim. Other skiers could ride just 10 mins down from the basic slope, but I took about an hour!!!

Yes- I needed a ski lesson!

So Tim dragged me down and it’s about 1pm- We ran to Ski school to get my ski Instructor.

It’s about $134.38 for my 2-hr private ski instructor. My instructor is 23 years old!!! (I think I can be his mom!!!), I can’t remember his Korean name but he told me his English name as Eric!

Eric started warming up and showed me some basic skills like how to fall down safely, “A-position”, “Stop”…

Then he took me back to Basic Slope again.

The first round, Eric will help to hold my stick and riding down slowly – at least I was standing!

2nd – 3rd Round, I followed him down – no holding but he kept watching and guiding very close to me.

The 4th round or the last round, I came down with Tim and my instructor took our video.

I was not that bad after 2-hr lesson…!!!

Btw there are Ski Medics and Ski Guards riding around, so it’s pretty safe here!

During my ski lesson, Tim took some video from his ride at Intermediate slope, looks like he was having fun (without me!)

The 5-hr package will be a little too much if you are not a beginner. But it was just ok for my first time (no need to hurry).

I did about 6 rounds skiing at Basic Slope in 5 hrs, from 11am – 4pm!

I would recommend foreigners or new skiers to come here during the weekday. It’s very crowded during the weekend.

Also check the available dates for snow online – For 2019, Ski and Snowboard will available until 28 February (this is what the English representative told me!)

All we paid for our 2 packages of 5-hr and ski equipment, plus my private ski instructor is $350 total today!

We were walking a little funny after skiing 5hours and we were both tired, but it’s a fun experience.
