Couple Ring, Must Do in Seoul

Korean’s have their own couple culture, not only matching outfits but the most popular one in Seoul is “couple ring”.

Our last 8days 7nights in Seoul before we moved back to the States, we decided to do the “couple ring”.

Yes, it sounds a little too young for us but it’s never too bad to have something “KOREA” for us to keep as the great memories that we used to live in South Korea for 3 years!

Where? Jongno  Jewelry District in Seoul.
Subway Line 1, 3, or 5 to Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 3, 8, 9 (Our ring shop is next to exit 9).

Cost? Our experience shopping for couple ring from different (random) shops had cost ranging from about 450,000won to 1,xxx,xxx won. It depends on the metal, gems, styles, and quality you choose.

We chose 14k pink gold (mine comes extra with 2 rings) and a 14k yellow gold ring for my husband with our names (in Korean) engraved on the outside.

Our set of couple rings was 1,050,000won (the vendors accepted our cash dollar at $920).

Note: they need at least 7days to do your custom couple ring. But we had only 4-5 days in Seoul when we went there, some shops will offer to make it in a rush. But it’s better to do it when you have enough time (just in case you need to adjust the sizes).

Most shops have a website that you can order online and they ship to you (in Korea), no need to travel to Seoul!

We didn’t want anything super special on our rings, we were looking for a keepsake to symbolize our life in Korea.

The Jewelry District is beyond what I was expecting (I tried to watch many YouTubers about it before we went there).

There are so many (too many) shops in the area, all we could do was walk through and check the price on anything that caught our eye.

English was hit or miss with about 50 percent ~~~ There is 50/50 percent of the owners speaking English to us, it was hard to describe what we’re looking for. So we just went for the one that we liked.

There are many buildings with many counter shops inside, it looks like they offer you many choices /options but mostly like they are about the same!
It’s really hard to pick out the one you like when we’re there. THEY ALL LOOK NICE!!!

I can’t give you any tips to pick the shop, we had a hard time picking one too. But we finally stopped at the one in “Dansung Gold Jewelry Center” building (next to exit no.9), just because they are mixed pink gold that I like and yellow gold that my husband likes…

And they seemed like very nice people, not too aggressive…

The price that I told you, depends on the weight of the metal. My finger is only size 7, but my husband is size 24!

Our Couple ring took 4 days to make.  When we went back to pick up our couple ring, the vender will weight our rings and test the diamond in front of us.

They also gave us the couple ring certificate.  We really like our couple ring!

If you wonder what we engraved on our rings?

My ring says “I love my Tim” and, my husband’s ring says “I Love my Jam”… it’s too sweet notes for us but it’s in Korean, not many of our friends can read that LOL

(Left) 사랑해 나의,  I love my Jam  :  (Right) 사랑해 나의 I Love my Tim.

You don’t have to do couple ring here but you can do any ring you want, single or couple. There are other kinds of jewelry like necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc.

PS: I didn’t write this blog to promote any shop but if you really want to know about the shop we made our couple ring, please inbox me at SomethingJam FacebookI can also help to spell your name in Korean 😀
