Our Covid-19 Vaccine Experiences in USA

We’ve been fully vaccinated of “Moderna” since April 19, 2021.

<ภาษาไทย> After we returned to USA from Soun Korea (3/9/2021), The US has started Covid-19 vaccines for adults 65 years and older, health care workers, skilled nursing, and long-term care facility residents.

We were told to try to leave our names at the Walgreen for the waiting list in case nobody showed up on the vaccination day. Only 4 days we left our name, they called us!

So I wasn’t really ready for the vaccines on that day!

Well….“The best vaccine is the one that’s offered the day you go in for your appointment,” says Andrew Thomas, M.D.
We were offered only MODERNA – and we did it!

Both the Moderna and the Pfizer vaccines require two shots: a priming dose, followed by a booster shot. The interval between Moderna doses is 28 days; for the Pfizer vaccine, it’s 21 days.

The Moderna vaccine was 94.1% effective at preventing symptomatic Covid-19 after the second dose. The vaccine’s efficacy appeared to be slightly lower in people 65 and older…

Any Side Effects After Getting a COVID-19 Vaccine?

Anytime when we got the Covid-19 vaccines, the nurse will tell us to hang around for at least 10 mins to see that we have any symptoms or side effects before going home.
We received the first dose on 22 March 21, we didn’t have any headache or fever after vaccinated at all.  ONLY sore arm, where we got shot.  It’s really bad sored, we couldn’t sleep on that side of the arm for 2 nights.  But the soreness would be gone after 3 days.

4 Weeks later, we went back to get the 2nd dose (4/19/21), the LAST DOSE!  We have been told that the 2nd dose is a painful one.  But we were fine!  NO HEADACHE or FEVER.  It’s the same feeling as the 1st dose, only sore arm and it’s gone after 3days.

*Just FYI, I started the Period a week after the 2nd dose, I was extremely headache for 7 days before and during the period.  I can tell it’s not normal for me.

So…we’re feeling only sore arm after vaccines, REALLY!

COVID-19 vaccines will start to protect you until about two weeks after your second shot

Some tips before going to get Covid-19 Vaccine…

    • Wear a nice and comfortable top, short sleeve is easy to get the shot in the upper arm muscle.
    • For long hair women, we should wash our hair before going to get the vaccine, after I got the vaccine I couldn’t even reach my hand over my head!
    • Get vaccine to the inactive arm
    • Drink more water!
    • Try not to get the vaccines on the same day for the whole family!  In case someone is sick, other members can help!

Talk to your doctor about taking over-the-counter medications, such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin, or antihistamines, for any pain and discomfort you may experience after getting vaccinated

Note (April 2021)
– After we are fully vaccinated, USA has completed 22% fully doses, while Louisiana (where we live) has completed 24% fully doses.
– Right now, Everybody older 16years old can register to get the Covid-19 vaccines.
– President Biden says no masks outdoors for fully vaccinated people (4/27/2021)
–  Pausing on use of Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine after rare blood clotting cases (4/13/2021)

Right now, only “3” COVID-19 vaccines have received authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) so far: Pfizer’s, Moderna’s, and Johnson & Johnson’s.
Pfizer’s costs about $20 per dose, Moderna’s costs between $25 to $37 per dose, while Johnson & Johnson’s costs about $10 per dose

“The risk of COVID seems to outweigh the risk of the vaccine, as far as we know right now,” said Dr. Michael Beninati
