Korean Peaches

Is it that difficult to buy Peaches in South Korea?  No….? but if I can buy the right one, I will get to eat the best peaches in the world!!!
This is why I have to write this blog to make sure that I won’t miss the right peaches for the next season!

Korean Peaches are tasty and juicy.  IT IS A MUST EAT FRUITS in SUMMER in South Korea!!!

There might be raining a lot during Summer in South Korea (June-August), and sometimes the rain messed up the peaches harvest time.

It’s a little pricy but it’s worth it.  It’s hard to get disappointed for buying those fruit in South Korea…

Start with…How to call Peach in Korean?, answer “Bok-soong-nga (복숭아)”
There are 2 types of Peaches, Soft (juicy) and Hard (crispy).

Personally, I like the soft and juicy one…
And this how to ask for soft/juicy/ripe peaches in Korea:

A: 이거 부드러운 복숭아에요? (e-go bu-deroun bok-soong-nga e-a-yo?)
B: 이거 딱딱한 거에요? (e-go tak-tak-han go-e-yo?)

Next How to ask for Hard/Crispy Peaches in Korea.

A: 이거 아삭한 복숭아에요? (e-go a-sak-han bok-soong-nga e-a-yo?)
B: 이거 물렁한 거에요? (e-go mool-rong-han go-e-yo?)
C: 이거 단단한 거에요? (e-go tan-tan-han go-e-yo?)

***My friend told me that B is more common speaking by locals***

I want you to feel familiar with the Korean Letters for hard or soft in Korean as well.  Because you can tell what kind of peaches by its box or sign.

The first time, I go with the box colors, Like the PINK BOX IS JUICY ONE but it doesn’t work – different farms come with different box colors.

And it can be a little more complicated about Peaches in Korea if they have another words on the box.

Both of 그레이트 and 황도  are soft and juicy peach, 그레이트 is white inside but  황도 is yellowish.
I tried 그레이트 , it’s really good!

황도 is good for making the peach pie as well…

*My Peach Pie before baking…

More hard/crisp peach that I found out this year…청중도 and 백도

The crisp peach is a little sour and if I eat it too soon, it will be a little bitter too….

My way to eat the crisp peach with Thai chili/shrimp sauce 😀

There are more types of peaches, smaller, redder (some almost black!).  But they are not my favorite yet, so I have no idea about it….go figure out LOL.

I will keep this post if I find out more ideas about peaches here!
During Summer in South Korea, Don’t forget to try watermelon.  Try the normal one, not the one at $300!!!

Thank You Tammy for sharing more info about peaches in South Korea 🙂
