Zip-Line Deokpo Beach, Geoje Island (South Korea)

One of the most fun stops on Geoje Island, Deopo Beach!

Deokpo Beach is the next beach over from where we used to live in Okpo, Geoje Island, South Korea.

The Beach itself is quite small, we never tried to play water there…it’s really small and a rocky beach!

Most tourists here come for the view and to walk along the (short) beach, selfie, having coffee, and trying the zipline.

*When we’re on top of the hill, we can see the whole Deokpo Beach.

Yes, the zipline seems famous for this beach. The Zipline goes over the water, a short ride but fun. If you are scare of heights maybe this isn’t for you, it’s thrilling and exciting to try.

The last weekend, before we left South Korea, we tried the zipline. It was 18,000won per person (~$17 for a round trip on 2/28/21).

This seems available at all ages, we saw many young kids trying with their guardians. I’m not sure about any weight limits for this ride, I think the crew could tell when you walk in (you will just get the cross arms – when Korean say “NO”).

The crew set up all harness quite well – they didn’t speak much English with us but they did know what to do.

Nothing is scary IF YOU CAN WALK UP TO THE TOP of the tall tower for the ride. It’s quite a tall tower, REALLY.

Today, our zipline lady told us what to do. She mentioned that if we stopped in the middle DON’T WORRY, she will throw the extra line for you to pull back SAFELY!

Our first couple, Marta and her daughter “Gaby“, both are scared of heights but they did very well for the first ride!

Next, it’s me and my best friend “Christina“, we tried to ride together for the best video.

It’s optional that you can ride by yourself or with someone.

Last, Ale – he looks very cool, it might be too easy for him.

Once everybody rides to the other side, the zipline lady will ride after us and get us all set up for the ride back from where we started.

The waiting line for the zipline could be a little deceiving, you may see only a small group but it would take longer than you think because they do round trips. That means they could let only one group ride at a time.

You can take all the gear that you wanna ride with you, iPhone, a selfie stick, etc but it’s on your own responsibility if you drop it into the water.

It was fun with friends…plus we were there during Covid-19 pandemic but we were safe for both riding zipline and virus infection!

I would mention that Deokpo Beach is very scary when it’s really windy. The wind-wave will blow small rocks over to the shore and upon the road! if you haven’t been here before…don’t try to walk along the beach when it’s windy.

Where to eat?
In front of the Deokpo beach, there is Tim’s favorite burger shop called “The Table”, he liked to take all of his friends (but not me) there for the huge burgers!

The burger has fried eggs – looks great! They are quite more options on the menu.  I did try the Fish & Chip was ok – it was too much batter on it for me.

There is a  coffee shop “Anamuru Cafe” on top of the hill (behind the 2nd station of zipline), you can walk up there or drive up there (drive the other way around).

No special menu to recommend, coffee shops in Korea are serving almost the same menus.

But the special thing there is a spot for taking photos. It’s fun to stop when you have friends to visit from another city 😀

There are so many seafood shops (and coffee shops) around the beach. One of the seafood shops, it’s the King Crab restaurant with NO KING CRAB for us. This is what we found out, if you wanna have KING CRAB here, you have to call to pre-order it.

Deokpo is also good for Hiking trips between Deokpo and Okpo, it’s a long walk but I would consider as AN EASY hiking route(read more soon).

Deokpo might be just a small beach for tourists but it was a paradise spot for us who used to live there for 2 years…
