Sacre-Coeur in Paris, the Must Go!

After 2days / 2nights in Paris, we voted that the Sacré-Cœur is the best part of our first trip in Paris!

The Sacre-Coeur stands on top of the hill of Montmartre, I thought this would be a little far away from where we stayed in Paris, but we can go there by the Metro lines very easily!

The Metro station for Sacre-Coeur is Abbesses Station (Line 12) , and once you get off the station, you can easily find the way to walk to Sacre-Coeur.

And you will walk pass many shops for souvenirs in Paris – the price is more reasonable than what I paid in the Latin Quarter! Dang, I should come to shop over here!

The Sacre-Coeur is the second-highest point of the city. You probably know which one is first: it is the Eiffel Tower.

You can walk up to the top which is not that bad to walk. But you can also ride the cable car up there.

To ride the cable car, you have to buy the ticket from the ticket machine which looks like the Metro ticket machine. Well, we already had ONE DAY PASS Metro ticket and it worked!

So we don’t know how much the cable ticket cost… But our one day pass ticket was 12Euro for unlimited access- Read more OUR FIRST PARIS TRIP

First, what we do like about here, there is a very nice view.

Sacre-Coeur is 213 meters above sea level.

Sacre Coeur is the second most visited church in Paris (the first is Notre Dame Cathedral). While Notre Dame Cathedral is rebuilding, the Sacre-Coeur is now the most visited Church in France and this is FREE!

The Sacre Coeur is open everyday from 6 am to 10.30 pm. You have to be quiet and peaceful when you enter the main hall as there is often services or people in prayer.

They don’t allow you to film or take pictures inside the Basilica.

The Panoramic View of Paris was closed during our visit…

And this is the BEST of the BEST part for visiting Sacre Coeur for Tim. There are many small restaurants around this area. We walked along the street from the Basilica and found a little street full with shops and restaurants.

There are many street artists around this area, all carrying, paper and sketching pencils. One of them asked Tim if he would like to have a couple pictures, he also mentioned that YOU DIDN’T LOOK LIKE TOO BAD COUPLE.

We didn’t we get a picture from him. I think it might be something about the English translation, LOL…
And this is where Tim picked to stop to eat tonight.

It was my first time to try escargot (snails), which is very garlicky & buttery. It’s fine for me to try but nothing WOW!

The WOW dishes for Tim were the French Onion Soup and the duck!

The duck was succulent but still crispy on the outside… Yum!!!

Then we walked around and found a big area for people to sit and eat.

Here is where you can sit and eat and get your picture sketched (IF YOU DIDN’T LOOK TOO BAD!).

Lots of places to eat!

I forgot to mention that they were making a movies in this area tonight. Some areas were blocked with the barricades and they had many big spotlights around the Sacre Coeur.

We walked back to the main road to the Metro Station. I stopped at the ice-cream shop and had a fancy pistachio ice-cream at 6euro (or $7)!

There are many crepe shops too, just fyi if French crepe is on your list for what to eat in Paris…

We stayed up here until 8.30pm, it’s still busy.

FYI there is Moulin Rouge in this area but we couldn’t make any reservations during our trip, many friends and family told us it’s kind of cool to have dinner with the cabaret show… Check it out if you plan to visit Paris!
