Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum, Paris

Will Mona Lisa disappoint you because she is so tiny? Not for us – we’re so glad we got to stop to see her!

“Don’t go to the Louvre, it’s boring!” That was what our 8yr. old granddaughter told us.  But Mona Lisa is (was) on Tim’s bucket list – we can’t miss it for our first Paris trip.

This is part of our visit to see our daughter and her family in Germany, we took the hi-speed train from Frankfurt, Germany to Paris – READ MORE

The Train (Metro) from our hotel to the Louvre is at Palais-Royal – Musée du Louvre station (Line 7). If you can figure out how to ride the train, it’s easy to find the Louvre because they have good signs to tell you where to go when you get off at the station.

*If you see the Pyramid, this is the entrance to the Louvre!

The Louvre Museum is one of our top list of things to do in Paris for our 3days 2nights trip. First you have to make sure that you can buy the online ticket on the day you want to visit. The ticket has a specific time to visit.

*There were at least 3 lines to enter the Louvre, 2 lines for online tickets and 1 line for walk-in ticket

We bought 3.30pm tickets (about 17euro per person), and we can get inside the Louvre once we arrived at 3.20pm (no need to wait until 3.30pm!) I also can see the tickets for 3pm and can still get into the Museum at 3:20pm! So I think you can be there a little early or late from your time on the ticket?

We were asked to see the Covid-19 Vaccination records, we showed the one we have from Walgreen (which are in English), and they are ok with it.

There is a security check, just like in the airport. I saw many tourists throw the water bottles away at the gate!

Once we get inside, Tim walked to get the map.

It’s huge, the main access is on the upper floor. They will check your tickets again!

I do know that we will have to walk a lot in the museum, so I brought walking (flat) shoes to change!

We were walking a lot from room to room. There are so many details which we enjoyed reading and watching. We didn’t rent the audio information earplugs.

Some paintings are quite old and some are very huge and big.

*Up on the ceiling…

We can’t go deep down into painting technique or history of the artist, we don’t have that much knowledge but we love the art.

Not only paintings, but some artifacts too…

We decided to go to see the Mona Lisa after a long walk and we were tired. If you have the map from the Information desk, it would help because they don’t have many signs on where to go!

Finally, we got into the Mona Lisa room which was packed!

I didn’t realize there were many tourists in the Louvre until we got into Mona Lisa’s room!

Social distancing to view Mona Lisa is 1 Meter away, WELL EVERYBODY WAS CHECKED FOR THE COVID-19 VACCINATIONS, We hope this is safe!

The lines for taking pictures with the Mona Lisa were very long. We stayed in line for about 26mins to get our turn to take pictures with her!

*our picture with Mona Lisa’s smile*
Mona Lisa is smaller than I expected, she is about 30″x21″ and weighs about 18lbs (8kgs).

Mona Lisa was 24 years old (Born 1479) when Leonardo started painting her in 1503.  But she is now 542years old when we visited (2021)!!!

Mona Lisa is owned by the Government of France, she is Truly priceless, the painting cannot be bought or sold…

I have been reading that some historians believe the Mona Lisa is a Self-Portrait of Leonardo da Vinci. So her mystery could make her famous!

Here is the fun fact to read about Mona Lisa that I found : 10 Secrets of The Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci

There are many security guards around the Mona Lisa, they are making sure that tourists will not touch the picture and don’t stay there to take pictures too long.

We were in the Louvre museum about… 2hrs.

When you walk out, you will pass the souvenir shops and the Shopping Mall! Dang! I should not of missed the shopping here!

FUN THING:  There were many funny t-shirts about Mona Lisa (dabbing or with Pandemic mask) that you can find from many attraction areas, like Latin Quarter, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Courier etc…

Visited date: 18 October 2021 (Monday at 3.20pm)
