Thailand Test & Go (After 1 Feb 2022)

Thailand is reopening (again)!!!  The TEST & GO is back on 1st February 2022 with new rules…

We were lucky to get to Thailand on January 1st, 2022 right before the Thai government closed the Test & Go program on Dec 23, 2021 but we were already approved!.
We have friends that missed the chance to come to Thailand and were waiting to be able to register for The Test & Go program.

Finally, the TEST & GO is back on 1st February 2022 with new rules. The updated program requires that you to stay at the hotel for 2 days quarantine on Arrival day (day1) and back to quarantine again on day 5. The quarantine time is a maximum for 24hrs or until you get your PCR covid test result!

You can stay in different hotels or the same hotel on day 1 and day 5. But I would recommend that you stay at the same hotel because when they approve your Thailand pass they will have to verify the hotel (or hotels). If you have 2 hotels it just takes longer to check both for your Thai pass.

Our 2 best friends took this chance to apply for the Test & Go program and fly from Korea to visit us in Thailand!!!

This trip, I helped to reserve the hotels, flights for our friends who flew from South Korea to Thailand.

It’s so easy for them to find the direct flight from Seoul to Bangkok.

Hotel:

We booked the hotel before the Test&Go opened. Many hotel reservation desks were confused with the new policy.  I tried several hotels that didn’t respond with a confirmation. I know that they understood me since I spoke Thai!
Finally, one of my list “Carlton Bangkok”, they responded right away!!!
So we booked a 5 night package at Carlton Bangkok Sukhumvit, we paid about $1000 (USD) for 2 person, with airport pick-up and 2 PCR test!

*Carlton Hotel provided “Mercedes” for airport pick up!!!

Thailand Pass:

After we got the flight reserved and hotel bookings, we can’t wait to submit the Thailand Pass.
For the Thailand Pass don’t forget to take pictures of Passport, Vaccination Card, Insurance (Foreigners), and Hotel Booking. They are all in picture files. You also need to have flight info, your address, your phone number.

We finished registering for the Thailand Pass (for 2 person) before 10am on Tuesday, 1 Feb 2022 (the first day they opened the system!) and we got the QR codes on Saturday night! (Thai time)

NOW WE ARE ALL SET!
When our friends arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport, everything was very smooth. It took only 25mins to walk thru all the document check points!

When we walked out the airport and there are ‘TOO’ many signs for hotel.

On the first day, our friends arrived at 3pm and they went to get the PCR covid test right away, they got the NEGATIVE results back at 3am. So when they woke up they can just go out!

But the last day (day 5), they went to get PCR covid test at 9am. They were waiting and waiting all day until very late at night. They was some problem with the hospital system that they can’t get the test result as scheduled. So that was kind of a long quarantine due to a hospital problem!

But now we all 4 FREE and READY to go to KRABI!!!

I haven’t been back to Krabi since 2016 since I moved to the USA and then Covid-19 started making travel hard.

We found that domestic flights are very cheap, we paid for a round trip to Krabi just 3,600 baht per person. (I think I paid more than 6000 baht before Covid-19)
If you are looking for a cheap flight to Krabi, please check out at https://www.traveloka.com/th-th/flight/to/Krabi.KBV

We are going to Krabi for Valentine’s week, it was a full plane!!!

Krabi is beautiful but It’s very quiet to compare with last time I’ve been there. Some vendors told me that it’s getting better after the government open the country for tourist.

I love the people in Krabi, they are very friendly and very helpful.

We can find and book tours very easy. And we had so much fun in Krabi.

If you are planning to visit Thailand, please do it now when you really can!!!
