Skyline Luge in Tongyeong, South Korea

The Luge is a small one- or two-person (child on your lap) sled, it’s fun and good for all ages!

Luge is a fun day for the family and in Korea, there is only one in Tongyeong, BUT there are plans for a Luge in Busan coming soon, maybe in 2021!

The Luge in Tongyeong is very famous and a MUST TRY (as it’s only one in South Korea as of this writing), it would take about 30 to 45minutes to wait to ride!

We bought our tickets online thinking that we would get to ride faster!

But NO! We still had to be in a line. We went there on a holiday in October and IT’S PACKED!!! – nice weather but a windy day that shut down the Cable car that is right next to Luge, this may of added to the Luge line. If you go there during nicer weather, you can do them both!

Please note, It was hard to parking around and you might have to have a little Korean speaking skill…

There are 2 long lines today, we were confused about which line we were supposed to be in…So I walked all the way to the front to ask!

It would be nice if they put the sign for the lines near the beginning of the line (where it starts) where people can see it!

Even though we had online tickets we still had to be in line about 30-40mins. They didn’t give priority to our line but they tried to take turns for both lines. But when they let us in, we didn’t have to be on the other line to buy the tickets again.

We can walk to get our helmet and then go directly to the chair lift to the top.

*Line of Chair Lift today…

During the ride up to the top, don’t miss out on the photo time!

When you get to the top, there are two options FIRST RIDE & SECOND RIDE

The FIRST RIDE, you’ll get some instructions on how to ride the on LUGE and a Stamp “LUGE” on your hand, and they recommend you ride the easy lane.

Overall, we took about AN HOUR to start our first ride!

My first ride took more than 10 mins to get down to the station LOL!!!

You will have to walk thru the PHOTO/SOUVENIR SHOP, if you wanna get your photo from your ride – you have to stop to get it now. The photo is available per round. (if you ride again, you will lose your first ride photo).

To check your photo, use your helmet to scan on their computer, your picture will pop up on the screen. Then you pick the one you wanna print, it’s average at 10,000won per one copy (~$10).

Our Luge tickets are good for 3 rides but it was too much to wait in line, so we did only 2 rides today!
(We paid 50,000won (~$45) per 3 rides for 2 tickets or 25,000won per person for 3 rides).

I saw many people of all ages riding luge today. They are required at least 110cm tall to ride Luge.

But if your child is too young, you can ride with them in front of your lap. It’s pretty much safe and fun to try.

Where we ate in Tongyeong:

On the way to the Luge, we stopped for lunch at a Shrimp Restaurant (recommended by Tammy).

The restaurant is huge and offers fresh shrimp. HOW FRESH? It’s still jumping when they served us!

We ordered a Shrimp pot, it’s 40,000won. But it’s a full pot of shrimp and 2 eggs! It’s plenty for 2 people (maybe good for 3-4 people!)

I would recommend Shrimp fried rice and shrimp noodle for lighter eaters!

There are many choices of food to eat in Tongyeong, you can stop at The traditional market where the mural village is, it’s right next to it.
