Pike’s Market visit during Covid-19, Seattle, Washington

We are back to Pike’s market (Public Market) again, September 2021 during the third wave of Covid-19, our second since our first in 2017. Everything looks normal (except for the masks!).

Last time we took the ferry (drive thru), from Bremerton to Seattle. But this time, we drove our car all the way from Gig Harbor to Seattle because we don’t want to deal with the Ferry timetable. The traffic wasn’t that bad at all!

We parked at the same parking lot, The Public Market Parking Lot which is connected to Pike’s Market.
Then we took the elevator to the market…

First thing we did was a speed walk to the public bathroom – guess we were driving 1.15hrs to get here. It’s about time to go LOL

As I mentioned, we’re back and we can do everything pretty much like we did in 2017 (my review at that time – no Covid19!!!).
The Market opens as normal but less venders and tourists…

The flower market is full with flowers– it’s the season I guess…

These guys still working at the fish market happily…

Tim was running to get his mini fresh donuts; I was so surprised how can he remember this???

Then we walked to see the FIRST STARBUCKS SHOP, I wanted to be there just to take a picture, but the line wasn’t that bad. So, we were in line to get our coffee.

This really is the first Starbucks store established in 1971 at Pike Place Market. The store has kept its early appearance over time and is subject to design guidelines due to its historic significance.
Due to Covid-19 Starbucks shop can’t let many people inside the shop at the same time. We were there a while but not too bad.

*Inside First Starbucks shop, Before and during Covid-19

The First Starbucks shop doesn’t really offer anything different from the other Starbucks shops. Just the main logo in front that they keep the first symbol.
Once we got in the shop, you can take pictures as much as you want BUT NO RECORDING!

The menu is the same, the Starbucks merchandises are the same, I mean you can get them everywhere in Seattle (at the airport too).

But some cups, glasses or souvenirs they are selling now are different from what I saw in 2017. I think it’s the collections that you would get depending on the year you visit.

So if you don’t have time to line-up, just take the picture and walk to the other Starbucks (which is about 20 steps away) to get your coffee!

There is another coffee shop that looks very creepy under the fish market, “Ghost Alley Espresso”. This coffee shop is right next to the Gum Wall. There is a big line to get the coffee as well, but I think a lot of the people in line were getting a tee shirt from “Ghost Alley”

We can’t have too many coffees at the same time, so we didn’t try it this trip.

Back to the same area with FIRST STARBUCKS SHOP, there is a bakery shop “Piroshky Piroshky” which has a very long line and we didn’t do it last time. So we tried some to take home this time.

I bought the Beef and Onion, it’s a lot of meat inside! It can be one of my big meals! Tim tried the apple cinnamon roll. There are many options for you to try and you can see they are making it fresh right at the shop.

Last visit, we had Clam Chowder at Lowell’s Restaurant, the one that you can get a nice view of Harbor inside.
But this visit, we went to try the Pike Chowder – it has been listed as number 1 Clam Chowder in America!!!

Luckily, the line wasn’t that long like what I saw on Youtube (before Covid-19).  You have to order, pay and get food before you can find the place to sit in the shop or where they provided (they set some tables outside the shop too) BUT NO HOLDING TABLES.

Tim tried Cajun Chowder (isn’t crazy? Cajun food in Seattle? We live in Cajun city, New Orleans!!!) I tried a half of crab meat sandwich (I’m so glad they sell it in half, because I wanna try something else too!)

There are so many shops and things to try around this area.

We also walked to the Gum wall to the pier.

Gum wall has lots of gum on the wall, just like before. But during Covid-19 we tried to stay away from the wall…LOL

I remembered that I had a hard time finding where to buy gum, so I brought some gum with me this time. But the Covid-19 scared me to put my gum over the wall!
So I have gum with me, but I didn’t’ put it on the wall this time.

Then we walked to the pier where you can see the ferrous wheel “The Seattle Great Wheel” from far-far away, but it’s only 10 mins walk from the Pike’s Market.

Again here, there are more restaurants and shops along the pier. More stuff that says Seattle on it if you are looking for some souvenirs. I noticed you can pretty much find the same stuff at Seattle Airport if you missed shopping over here.

And if I’m hungry right here, I would try the SEATTLE HOT DOG, they have the popular hot dog with veggies!!!
Well, I’m still full, so just FYI.

The ferrous wheel opens for tourist, but we have seen enough view when we flew over from New Orleans to Seattle.  Aquarium is on the right if you are facing to the water.
Last, I wanna to go to the shop name “Ye Olde Curiosity Shop” which is on the left from the ferrous wheel.
But guess what? There is the Harley Davidson shop next to it! Tim is shopping at the Harley Davidson shop for more t-shirts! He has Harley Davidson shirt from all over the World. This is just what he is crazy about… I’m feeling weird that I put this in my blog LOL

At the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop they have some weird things but not that a big shop. I got only one t-shirt from there. Just because I wanna make sure that Tim and I are even!

Like I said, there are so many shops and things to hop around in Seattle Downtown. We didn’t do much different from our first visit.

We spent only 2 hrs in Pike’s market and all around today.
